Email from 03/31/10

Hey guys how is it going. Thank you for all your emails this week. Sorry i dont have more time to write everybody back individually! It sounds like you guys had an awesome trip! i am jealous, kinda, not as much as i thought i would be. Guess i am liking my new area :) actually i know i love my new area, we dont have any solid investigators right now but it is about to blow up. we just had a new ward mission leader called and he is amazing. So both ward mission leaders are good and they want to get stuff done. i am very excited. We should have a for sure baptism in april since there is a kid that turns 18 and has been wanting to be baptized for so long but his dad hasnt let him. he is basically like a member and same with 3 younger siblings. There mom is a member and they all come to church every single week.

I ran into a few connections to home in this ward which is awesome.. bro stonehocker served with dusty on his mission! i was just asking him if dusty was a wuss on his mission and he would laugh! hahaha he was way cool. he is feading us on friday i think. then i ran into a english family and they were ranting about jerom dastrup. They loved him! She like wasnt even breathing she was talking so fast. It was pretty funny!

I am serving in two wards now so we should hopefully be getting about 20 lessons a week. When i got here, my comp and his last companion seemed like they did nothing, it was kind of a joke. there was absolutely nothing set up and they were only teaching 5 lessons a week. so we are deffinitely changing that around.

Dusty, might you know, i can garuntee you cant hear me gaining pounds, cause i havent gained a pound. i am actully going to start losing weight, every monday wednesday and friday we go work out at elder and sister owens (senior couple) house and we actually work hard. I havent workeed out this hard since basketball. and on tuesday thursday saturday i still work out on my own. so im good! plus i am in a car share area so we only get the car monday tuesday wednesday thursday and we have to walk on friday saturday sunday. we are going to try and find bikes to borrow in the next couple weeks!Katie your fam sounds way busy! I got one of the pictures of mason, i think it was from terra, and it is the funniest thing i have ever seen. it is awesome! he just has a huge ol grin and i wouldnt be surprized if i go back and look at it that he will have food in his hand! Terr, Thank you so much for the package i always love getting them and new ties :)

Mother i havent gotten the st patricks day package yet but we should get mail next monday and our zone conference. i am excited for it!

my new apartment is WAY better then in brooks. hahah brooks was such a pile. lethbridge is way nicer and nicer home. we live with some members. The pitchers. They are like the nicest people i have every met. they have a son serving in austraila and he gets home in june. so that will be cool to see the families excitement. They are always watching the march madness stuff so we are staying updated on it! Sounds like byu did ok. they should have beat kansas st. though. typical byu choking when it comes down to it.Well todays pday is going to be awesome. i will actually be in civilation! yes! haha basketball! i am stoked. but yeah i guess that is all i have about i love all of you guys and miss ya so much!

ps Dusty, i believe i have been out longer than 2 months. 5 actually and i am going to burn a tie at the end of april when i turn 6!!! 19 more months to go!

whats up guys! so good news, i will just tell you off the back. we got our transfer emails and i am getting transferred, to lethbridge. much bigger but still not huge. it has about 100 thousand people and about 50% members there so more of a mormon town. i am very excited to leave brooks. i love it and all but..... i am over it. i want to see something new. :) my new comps name is elder moore. i dont know anything about him or who he is but i am excited to get a switch up.. maybe some baptisms are in the path :) so yeah i didnt get a chance to hand write a letter on sunday night. i got way busy so the email is all ya get this week sorry! but i will get back on track next week. i got the chance to sit down with andrrew mom, and i asked him about like every little question. so it was pretty exciting to hear. our baptisms this last weekend fell thrugh, erics wife is being stupid. she wont even listen to him. we are still goin to work with him but we will see. wsorry i cant send a very long email today. the library is packed. so i will talk to you guys later.i need to go pack my bags! :) love you all so much. love elder dastrup ps skyler leaves the 14th of april so find out when his farewell is and tell him i miss him

Hey family! So that is way exciting news about timpview... i was so stoked to see that. Since last like thursday that is all i have been thinking about it who won the state championship. For some reason i had a feeling that mountain crest would be close to winning it this year. i just didnt really think timpview! but with bronson i dont think it would have been a problem at all. So that is awesome. Eli is the man. Dad you will have to call covey on the phone and tell him that i love him and he is that man and congrats. I am really excited for all of them...

But more talking about my mission, It is going well. The course to 100 baptisms is in route. Which is amazing. we had 20 on the first weekend... SWEET!!!!!! We set a very solid date for the 20th of march, but it got pushed back to the 21st. which is ok! i am so excited. wwe are still working with a few people that dropped their date to get new ones. i love my mission. so many crazy things are happening and it is awesome. I love seeing the change in peoples lives.. our solid date that we have it with man named Hermes, Columbian. So elder estupinan speaks spanish with him so it is pretty cool. hoipefully we can just get him to church. he is a very busy man... So mom our next transfer date is the 24th. so i will be emailing the 23rd. and next week, the 17th i probably wont be emailing until about 5 ish. i am going to the temple that day!! i am really excited to finally get to go down to cardston. but i should be able to get back to email...

Good news, tomorrow i am going up to calgary for a training with president archibald. it is just some select elders that i guess are going to be the leaders in the near future. So i am pretty excited to get that oppertunnity! I dont know if the near is like this next transfer or like 6 months. but either way it is good that something good is coming from me.. even though i have no baptisms or anything. Even though i havent gotten to have lots of baptisms yet or anything,it is so fun seeing miracles and stuff. my favorite thing to do is give blessings... last night was an awesome experience.we were at a members house and i gave a spiritual thought. it was just mainly about trusting the lord and he will deliever you out of bondage (mosiah 7:33) which is one of my favorite scriptures and he started laughing and i was like what??? why are you laughing at me... and he just said it is funny that you are talking about this because i have been debating to get a blessing before i go on my trip and you are basically telling me right now to rely on the lord... it is amazing how heavenly father works.... this guy is actually taking a trip down to utah. So he will be in provo from like sunday to wednesday i think... so mom i gave him some stuff to give to you. he should be calling you when he is in provo.. his name is andrew. he is pretty goofy but he is an awesome guy. he does so much for us as missionaries.. he should have somewhere to stay, but i told him if any problems come up that you guys would probably have an extra room. so sorry i offerred without permission :) but he really is a good guy that does a lot for us. i told him that you might be having people stay with you so you can use that as an excuse!

Well i am still astonished about timpview winning the state championship that is awesome..tell the coaches that i say congradualtions! i would email them, but i cant haha. Email from March 3rd

Hey guys hows it going! another week down.. this week has been pretty good. Definitely some challenges or "trials of faith"..... I am hanging in there with my faith. Two of our baptismal dates got dropped and the other two are dwindling. but i know that i am doing my best to stay 100% obedient and i know that the lord will bless me.. We have continued to try and meet with the investigators who dropped the date, but i dont know how much they really want to talk to us... This week hsa been a little bit difficult to keep my companion staying on track. There is a few little rules that he isnt so sure he wants to keep. so i am just doing my best to work with him and show him my love and help him realize that by keeping all the little rules is what is going to pay off for us. So Dana i got your package this week, Thank you! i very much appreciate it. The cds are great, except a couple that arent really legitamit so i cant listen to a couple :) but most of them are good. Mom i keep forgetting to tell you i have gotten three ties from ya! thank you. i love all of them. i did get that purple and white tie in the first package i didnt see it for a couple days.So it sounds like everyone is staying pretty busy with everything, dusty with his long meetings, byu games and watching 24, dana with 10 jobs, terra gettin a package to me :) sommer finding a new delicious addiction, shrimp tacos, mom getting stuck in the mercedes, devin, probably buying more cars to sit on the lawn at his house. and dad probably starting a tons of new projects taht wont be finished until i am home in 20 months. All sounds pretty busy. i would like to think that we are staying pretty busy as well.. So timpview has state playoffs this week, how are they doing? it is weird how much i miss all of that basketball stuff. It was such a big part of my life that is just like gone now... crazy. it was a pretty good change though i would say. oh mom i was going to say, probably like sometime is march you can send me back my short sleeve white shirts and slacks for the summer time! just make sure that they are slim shirts. i hate big baggy church shirts. i havent gained weight yet (for sommers information) i actually weighed myself like 3 days ago and i weighed 171, and the day i came out i weighed 172. that is pretty good i would say. my goal is in two weeks when we are going to listen to elder bednar speak in lethbridge, i will be staying at a place that has a scale and i want to be below 170.. i dont know if you will catch me dusty.. I am so excited to have elder bednar speak to us. it will be so so so sweet! i would definitely rather have a baptism though. i still am working so hard on getting several in the month of march.
